Voters’ Roll canvassers sought by council

Carmarthenshire County Council is looking for people to support its voter registration team by canvassing in their area.

Canvassers are employed between mid-October and mid-November to carry out visits to properties where the household has not completed and submitted a form to confirm who should be registered to vote, known as the Voters’ Roll.

There are vacancies for canvassers in:

  • Burry Port
  • Gwynfe
  • Llangadog
  • Llanybydder/Cwmann
  • Llanboidy, Pontyfenni, Llangynin
  • Llanwinio, Meidrim and Trelech
  • Llandduesant
  • Llanegwad
  • Llanfihangel
  • Llansawel
  • Newcastle Emlyn

Canvassers would visit each property within their canvass area that is yet to submit a form to establish contact, obtain a completed form or post the form through the door.

They will be paid 56p per form that is delivered or £1.00 for every form that is completed on the doorstep and returned to the council’s electoral office.

The annual update of the Voters’ Roll is mandatory, and households must respond even if there are no changes. Failure to do so could result in a fine of £1,000.

Anyone interested in applying to become a canvasser in one of the wards listed should contact electoralservices@carmarthenshire.gov.uk or 01267 228889.
