CYSUR – the Mid and West Wales Safeguarding Board – has welcomed the announcement by Education Secretary Kirsty Williams on plans for a register for electively home educated children.

A Board spokesman said: “We look forward to, and very much welcome, the opportunity to support and work closely with Welsh Government and The National Independent Safeguarding Board in taking this agenda forward to strengthen safeguarding arrangements for children who are electively home educated.

”Members of the CYSUR Board are engaged in the development of The National Practice Guidance referred to in the Education Secretary’s statement.

“We are hopeful this piece of work will add further significant value to a range of support and measures available to children in need in West Wales.”
